Visceral Therapy

& Self-Massage

The Body Organizes Around the Organs

When the Organs Are Free, the Whole Body Moves With Them

What is Visceral Therapy

A Slavic traditional organ massage, is a manual bodywork built on one core premise: the organs come first, and the body’s structure organizes itself around them.

The Stress Pathway

Emotional stress doesn’t stay emotional for long. It moves through the autonomic nervous system into the organs themselves – creating tension and stagnation. This shows up as fascial tightening and, eventually, postural change. It’s a mechanism, not a metaphor: stress inhibits bile flow from the gallbladder and creates stagnation there directly.

About Visceral Therapy

Visceral Therapy is a gentle manual therapy that focuses on restoring the natural movement and mobility of the body’s internal organs and the connective tissues that support them. Every organ has a subtle, natural motion and rhythm that contributes to healthy function. When this movement becomes restricted through surgery, inflammation, injury, stress or prolonged tension, it can influence surrounding tissues, posture, breathing and overall wellbeing.

Treatment begins with a detailed assessment followed by gentle, hands-on techniques that encourage the mobility of the diaphragm, digestive organs and surrounding fascial tissues.

The aim is to improve tissue mobility, support healthy circulation and optimise communication between the organs and the rest of the body.

Many clients report improvements in digestive comfort, breathing, mobility and general wellbeing. Visceral Therapy is often used alongside other manual therapies as part of a holistic approach to supporting the body’s natural ability to adapt and function efficiently.

The Journey Into Self-Massage

From the Practitioner's Hands to Your Own

Visceral therapy doesn’t have to end when the session does. Once the body has learned what freedom in the organs feels like, self-massage becomes a way to keep returning to that state – a daily or weekly practice you can do yourself, at home, with nothing but warm hands and a few minutes of attention. This is the natural next step after treatment: not a replacement for therapy, but an extension of it – a way to stay in relationship with your own body between sessions.

“I was introduced to visceral massage through a self massage workshop that Jan had offered. It’s a powerful tool to check your physical and mental health , once the organs are also related to your emotions. I really start to see results when I combine the self massage and the sessions with Jan. The results were quick, I felt with more energy, less bloated, my menstrual cramps were gone and the cravings reduced, which makes me believe it’s helping to regulate and balance my hormones. I highly recommend Jan as a teacher and massage therapist. He’s gentle and kind.”

"After struggling for five months with weight gain and perimenopause symptoms despite trying diet, exercise, yoga, meditation, and acupuncture, visceral massage made a remarkable difference. After four treatments, my digestion improved, bloating disappeared, my period returned, and I finally felt like my body had been reset. I’m deeply grateful."

Silvia, Age 45

"I cannot recommend Jan highly enough. I first went to see him two months ago and have had five sessions in total, and the results have been incredible. My health issue has drastically improved under his care.Jan is incredibly knowledgeable and truly takes the time to listen and understand your specific health concerns. By focusing on my liver and gallbladder, I noticed a marked improvement within just two days of my treatment. In addition to his hands-on therapy, Jan's custom tinctures have been hugely beneficial to my recovery. If you are looking for a skilled, attentive, and effective practitioner, Jan is the person to see. He will absolutely be my first call should I have any health issues in the future."
